Wise County Sheriff - E. Grant Kilgore
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office is an accredited agency that is constantly striving to bring the best possible services to the citizens of Wise County and the City of Norton. We maintain a high standard for all of our personnel, ensuring they receive the best training possible to provide quality law enforcement services to all. Our agency provides patrol, K-9, tactical, criminal investigations, civil process, court security and 911 dispatch services.
Any comments about our agency are welcomed. As a proactive, progressive agency, we consistently evaluate ourselves to bring you the best law enforcement services possible.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing the best possible service to the citizens of Wise County during these uncertain times.
To ensure the health and well-being of everyone, the Wise County Sheriff’s Office will be implementing the following changes as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the Virginia Department of Health:
Officers will continue to respond to all emergencies.
Residents are asked to tell dispatchers if there is a sick person in their home when calling for aid and will be asked questions accordingly.
Officers will likely complete non-emergency reports without personal interaction.
If possible, residents are asked to be prepared to step outside of their homes to speak to law enforcement in an open environment.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office administrative lobby will be closed to the public until further notice to ensure the health and safety of the public and our employees. We will have personnel available during the normal business hours and ask that you use the call box located outside of the main entry.
Fingerprinting service is suspended until the lobby re-opens.
Crash reports can be requested through insurance companies by telephone or by mail. Should you need to contact the records office during the day call 276-328-3566. You can also obtain crash report information from http://www.crashdocs.org/
We will be evaluating these measures daily and as information and recommendations change, we will act accordingly. Thank you for your patience and prayers as we work to protect our communities and each other.
